The People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) –Negros Chapter conducted a seminar on Leadership EQ (Emotional Quotient) ,June 8, 2012 at O Hotel Bacolod City with Past National President of PMAP and Seasoned Human Resource Practitioner, Mr. Ric Abadesco as the Resource Person.
The seminar was attended by 100 participants from various companies all over Negros. 4 New members of PMAP were also inducted during the event by yours truly being an immediate past-president of the association.

Importance of Leadership EQ
Leadership can be defined as one’s ability to get others to willingly follow. Every organization needs leaders at every level. Leadership qualities can be learned over time. Much has to do with developing a strong leadership EQ. It is said that the effectiveness of a leader is 52% depended on his or her emotional intelligence. It is also said that when compared to IQ and technical expertise, emotional competencies are more than twice as important when it comes to achieving organizational excellence.
Why does emotional intelligence matter?
It has been found that higher levels of emotional intelligence are directly linked to better leadership performance such as: Participative management; Putting people at ease; Work-Life balance; Building and mending relationships; Decisiveness and Confronting problem employees.
