BREAKING BARRIERS: ENTREPRENEURIAL SUMMIT
I was invited recently to be one of the speakers of an Entrepreneur’s Summit , dubbed as Breaking Barriers by the University of St. La Salle, Bacolod. Apart from me, there were 3 other notable entrepreneurs in Bacolod City who graced the event. The event was hosted and attended by the BS Entrepreneurship Students of USLS but a great number of students from John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Bacolod also attended the summit.

The first speaker was Mr. Vladimir Gonzales, the President of Home Invest Realty Ventures, Inc. His company is recognized for developing housing projects, condominiums and many more.

The second speaker was Ms. Ina Ramos, I suppose the youngest amongst the speakers. A newly installed CEO of their family’s new business ventures, the Ceres Pasalubong . Ms. Ramos came from the family who owned the Ceres Liner which operates nationwide.
The last speaker was Ms. Emily Go, owner of IEC Computers and she has other more businesses.

I was the third speaker. Of course , compared to the three other speakers my business was the smallest and nothing compared to what they have. But, I guess my experience gave a different flavor at the summit, especially at the thought that it is possible to break into business with just a very modest small cap. I did let the cat out of the bag with my small handicraft business the Jojo Vito designs Gallery which produces and export furniture, furnishings and masks made of fiberglass abroad.
My moment…
My talk was a narration of how I became an entrepreneur. Setting off from being a Human Resource Manager before in one utility company, until this company was acquired by a much bigger entity which caused us to lose our jobs. If not for the acquisition of that company , perhaps I am still working as a full time employee today.
The question and answer portion made the summit more enjoyable as students started to ask questions that most of us did not mention in our presentation.
