Five Minutes? But what can you do in 5 minutes? It’s a challenge indeed!
Singtel wanted seasoned and budding content creators to come up with a compelling content in a limited time frame. The 5Minute Video Challenge is a regional film contest open to all creators from Singtel’s market across Asia, Australia, and Africa.
“Connecting Lives” is the theme for this year’s competition. Its goal is to explore how the connections in life can bring the world together.
Singtel has partnered with Globe in the Philippines to search for the country’s top content creators. Interested parties must fill out the application form available on the Globe website and submit their five-minute video, along with the video poster, subtitles (if applicable), and members’ photos.Deadline for all entries will be October 22, 2017.
Albert Larrazabal, Globe’s Chief Commercial Officer said, “Our partnership with Singtel’s The 5-Min Video Challenge is part of our thrust to provide more opportunities to talented Filipinos to create original content. Moreover, we are providing local audiences the opportunity to have access to quality content which they can view anytime. At times, all you need is five minutes to get a point across.”
Globe Telecom will be announcing the Three (3) local winners on the Globe Telecom’s official Facebook and Twitter pages on October 30. A handsome P150,000 awaits the grand prize winner, while the P50,000 will be given to the first runner-up and the second runner-up will win P25,000.
Both the grand prize winner and the first runner-up will fly to Singapore to represent the Philippines in the regional round, where they will compete with other entries from Australia, Africa, India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore. The winners for the regional round will be named in a gala celebration on November 22 wherein $30,000 will be awarded to the grand prize winner and $15,000 will be awarded for the runner-up.
Apart from the major prizes, Singtel will also be giving away special awards such as the Social Media Star Award with the prize of $3,000. The award is for the entry with the most number of likes on its trailer until October 22. Two (2) People’s Choice winners will also be picked based on the top 2 entries with the highest votes during the regional voting in November. Winners will be handsomely awarded $3,000 and $2,000 respectively.
Singtel established the 5-Min Video Challenge in 2016 to test the artistry of the most talented minds in the region, and create a collection of entertaining and thought-provoking content in bite-sized videos suitable for the mobile phone, one of the strongest drivers of entertainment consumption.
Miguel Lorenzo Sotto and Jazmine Yvette Reyes of the Philippines won the first runner-up in 2016 for their short film entitled Pagnanakaw.
